Dealers who want to advertise on the net

by: Paul Cohen
People are finding out that there is an other site than ebay to sell cars or motors. This is very intersesting for cardealers because prices are much lower than on e-bay.
It is www.52marketplace.com
If you place your car on www.52marketplace.com you can state a fixed price or you can give a starting price to start the bidding. Unlike ebay the auction has no timeframe so you decide when to end the auction. Sniper software will also not work on www.52marketplace.com so you don't have to wait until the last 5 minutes to see the bids. Also a nice thing is that if someone has placed a bid higher than the highest bid the person that has been outbid will receive an e-mail with a notice that his bid is no longer the highest bid and that he can place a new bid. Now thats how it should be! Interactive bidding.
Furthermore it is possible to place your ad on top of the list again.What is the advantage?
Iff people are searching for a specific type of car your ad is shown on top of the list and that is where you want to be. Maximum result, maximum exposure. You can place the ad on top of the list as often as you like.
At this time you can place your ads for FREE.
Try it and tell your friends. This is a new concept of selling and it is getting more popular.

A New Scam Hits The Web

by: Jim Edwards
~ New Twist On An Old Scam ~

Virtually anyone with an email account eventually receives
a message running one of the oldest scams in the book.

Often referred to as the "Nigerian Letter," this scam
involves getting a message from someone in a foreign
country claiming to need a way to get 21.5 million dollars
out of the country (the first country used in this scam was
Nigeria, hence the scam's name).

He knows that you "are a trustworthy individual" and if
you'll just send him your bank account information he will
deposit the money in your account and give you 15% of the
deposit.

Of course, after you give up your banking information the
scammer empties YOUR account.

Well a new scam has spawned to take advantage of one of the
web's most successful and widespread activities - online
auctions.

The scammer sends you an email offering to purchase an item
you're selling through an online auction or in the
classified section of your local paper.

They tell you a relative living in the area will pick up
the goods, however, when the check arrives, it's made out
for more than the agreed price (often thousands more).

The bidder asks you to refund the difference and keep a
percentage for your "trouble."

Of course the check is forged and, if you refund the
difference, you can kiss your money goodbye.

Moral of the story: free money is only free for the person
who steals it from you!

~ The Coming Storm Over DVDs ~

If you thought Napster caused a stir over trading music and
the illegal CD-ROMs people made on their computers, wait
until everybody gets a DVD burner!

The average price for an excellent DVD burner has dropped
well below $400 and medium to low priced computers now
include DVD burners as standard equipment.

The only thing holding back the avalanche of DVD copying
seems to be the rather hefty cost of buying blank DVDs.

With an average price of $1.50-2.00 each, blank DVDs cost
far more than blank CDs, which run around 20 cents each.

But, if you look back about 6 years, blank CDs used to cost
a dollar apiece, so it won't take long for the price of
blank DVDs to drop.

When that price drop does come and every home with a
computer can also duplicate full-length movies on DVD,
watch for one of the biggest upheavals in the history of
Hollywood.

It will make the music industry's crackdown on illegal
music sharing look as mild as a 5 minute "time out" in the
local pre-school class.

~ Yahoo! - Still King! ~

In a bid to capture even more of the world's search engine
traffic, search giant Yahoo! recently purchased the web's
largest pay-per-click search engine, Overture.com.

In the process (and more importantly), since the
commissions from pay-per-click advertising with Overture
represent a major source of revenue for most of the other
major search engines, Yahoo! definitely holds the upper
hand.

An Introduction To eBay Consignment

by: Terry Gibbs
After I started selling on eBay, I was approached by friends without computers who wanted me to sell their items for them. They had heard stories about the outrageous prices items some ebay auctions brought. They knew I could get more money for them on eBay than they could get selling the items themselves. An added incentive to them was I did all the work. All they had to do is say "I don't want this anymore, sell it for me;" and within a few weeks I converted their castoffs into cash.

I was already selling on eBay, and I had developed a system for listing and dealing with sales that allowed me to list lots of items in a short time. The chance to make a few dollars without any investment was too much to pass up. I made some good money doing this and because I didn't have to tie up my money buying inventory I was able to use it to grow my train business.

Consignment Selling Is The Perfect Way To Start Your Own eBay Business.

There are no set up fees or investments. You won't need to risk your own money buying items to resell. You don't need a detailed knowledge of antiques and collectibles. You only need to know how to find the right category, write an adequate description and take some high quality photos.

Selling on consignment allows you to learn about antiques and collectibles without risking your own money. By selling other people's items you learn the value of items in the most practical way. By handling them and selling them. No matter how many price guides you read, and antique shows you attend, you will never get the feel for items until you sell them.

When you sell on consignment, you provide a service that makes your clients additional money. When most people sell something, they sell to a dealer who needs to mark up the item to make a profit. This is not what happens on eBay.

On eBay the END USER is the buyer and will always pay more than a dealer would. Even after paying a consignment fee, the seller makes more money.

This is the true benefit of eBay consignment selling. Finding the END USER. Before eBay this was a difficult and daunting process. With eBay, a simple listing placed in the correct category, with a good description and some high quality photos, is enough to get a few END USERS to fight over the item.

Things You Need To Succeed With Consignment Sales:

1. You need to take possession of the items. When you sell items on consignment you risk your eBay name and reputation. You take these risks when you sell your own items, but you are in complete control of your actions. In order to lower your risks you need to get complete control of the items you are going to be selling. This prevents sellers from changing their minds, and allows you to ship the items as soon as you receive payment.

2. You should always have a written contract. One of my friends was sued by a consignor who felt the commission was too high. The consignor agreed to pay 20 percent of the selling price, then when the item sold for $8500, got upset about paying $1700 to someone for doing 30 minutes of work. While my friend won in court, it would never have gotten to court if he had a written contract.

3. You'll also need to perfect ways to get items. At first your friends and co-workers will provide you with a good stream of salable items. After a while this stream will dwindle and you will need to go out and find consignors. This is not as difficult as it may seem. Remember, by consigning with you, the seller gets more money than they would otherwise.

All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) Sell Well On eBay

by: Sydney Johnston
ATV auctions are healthy markets on eBay. All terrain vehicles have changed in the last few years (naturally) and the major change has been from one person ATVs to two person models.

The best selling atvs on eBay are:

* Bombardier
* Arctic Cat
* Kawasaki
* Polaris
* Yamaha
* Honda
* Suzuki

Demand is especially strong in the warm weather months, although snow mobiles are moderately

If you're going to ride all terrain vehicles, check out the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's free safety report, #450:

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/atvpubs.html

If you're an ATV seller on eBay, you will be doing your buyers a service to refer to the publication above, and also to recommend the following protective gear should be worn every time your buyer rides an ATV:

Helmet — Select a helmet that bears the label of either the Department of Transportation, the American National Standards Institute or the Snell Memorial Foundation. The helmet should fit snugly and be securely fastened. Full-face helmets protect your face as well as your head. Open-face types are lighter and cooler, but should be used with a chin guard that will offer chin and mouth protection.

Eye protection — Eye protection is a must. If an object such as a rock, branch or even a bug hits you in the face, it will distract you and may cause blindness if it hits you in the eyes.

Regular sunglasses do not provide adequate protection. The helmet's face shield or a pair of riding goggles will protect your eyes properly. Select well-ventilated goggles that can be securely fastened and are free from scratches.

Gloves — Gloves provide protection from abrasions and help to keep your hands from getting sore, tired or cold. Off-road style motorcycle gloves provide a good combination of protection and comfort.

Boots — Riders should wear boots that lace up at least above the ankle for ankle support, with low heels to help prevent the boot from slipping off the footrests.

Shirt and pants — A long-sleeved shirt and long pants should be worn to reduce abrasions on the body.

Selling ATVs is a lucrative market on eBay -and for added profit, why not sell the safety equipment above? It will add to your bank account and protect your buyers.

7 Online Party Games

by: TBA ~ Tricia, Billie and baby Ashley
Games for online parties are essential. They make your online party more fun. Below are some parties games that can be played at your
online party.

Games are a fun way to add a little competition to your party, which encourages more participation.

1) Scramble - Pick 5 - 10 words from your site or your business and scramble them up before the
party. Let everyone know that the words are coming from your site or your business whichever you
choose.

2) Trivia - Pick 5-10 questions about your site. Let everyone know that the answers can be
found on your site. The first person to get the correct answer gets a point at the end of
the game the person with the most points gets the prize you have picked out.

3) Bingo - Have a list of words on your site and have guest pick out 5 words and email you
those words, then later on when time for the game start picking words from your list, when
you have call all 5 words of one of the guest they will then call Bingo.

4) Auctions - These are a blast and we have done great with them. You make up a list of
ways for guest to earn play money to bid with. With the highest way to earn being either
purchasing or booking a party Then you pick out a few prizes to auction off. This is a
great game to get competitive juices going.

5) ABC Game - Pick a letter of the alphabet, the first person to give you a product that you
sell, that starts with that letter gets a point. Do as many as you like, at the end the person
with the most points is the winner. This game is good for getting people looking at your site
trying to find products that start with each letter.

6) Scavenger Hunt - Pick out 5 words, place them on your site or your party page in a different
color font, then at the party tell you guest there are 5 words they are searching for. The first
person to find all 5 words and email them to you is the winner. This is a good game for getting
people exploring your site.

7) Ticket Game - This works much like the auctions. You give guest to your party
a way to earn tickets. Once earning a ticket you send them their ticket number. During the party
call out ticket numbers. If their ticket number is called out they get a prize. Make the most
tickets given away for purchasing or booking parties.

5 of the best money making ideas you can use today to earn a

by: Glen Jansen
Essentially there are 5 tremendously powerful methods to make money online. These methods were not always available but have only become available due to the large amount of internet commerce being conducted each and every day online. While it is possible to make money, and lots of it, using other methods, these are in my opinion the best for 3 reasons. First, they are some of the cheapest methods around. Imagine running a business for an entire year where your total cost was less than $1 a day. Secondly, these methods are fast to implement. Some of the methods can have you up and running in hours, if not only a day or two. Lastly, these ideas are simple. When it comes to working online, simpler is better and complex is dead.

The 5 Best Money Making Ideas.

ONE. Making Money the Google Cash Way.

Google Cash is a term coined by Chris Carpenter. In his amazing ebook, he teaches you how to start a profitable advertising business by using Google Adwords to promote products to people using the Google search engine. The strategy is simple. You create ads to attract interested people. When they click on your ad you are charged for that click. The visitor is directed to your site where you can sell them your product or someone else's. The advantage is you get to leverage the Google traffic. You can purchase clicks for as low as 5 cents. Lastly, done properly, you can test dozens of different ads and campaigns allowing you to perfect your selling system.

TWO. Making tons of money selling someone else's stuff.

Affiliate marketing is the manner in which you market a product for someone else, known as the merchant. In return for providing a qualified buyer, the merchant agrees to pay you a commission. The beauty of this type of business is that you can take advantage of hot products, you can easily create a large cash flow by setting up dozens of small income streams promoting hundreds of products. In other words, the business is scalable. Once you learn to make money selling a product for one merchant, you can reproduce that for another. For this to work, the critical step that you need to master is getting traffic. An absolute master, who I consider the king of the affiliate business is James Martell. He is the author of The Affiliate Marketing Handbook (newly revised for 2005). James has hundreds of income streams and can teach anyone how to promote and sell products for merchants online.

THREE. Turn Treasure into Dollars with eBay.

In case this is your first week using the internet, I will briefly explain eBay. They are the world's largest online auction system. People from all over the world, lots of people, using it each and ever day to sell everything from toasters to Hummers. In order to make money on eBay, you research what is selling at the moment, source that product for at great price and then start creating auctions. Of course, that all sounds easy, but the truth is there is a lot of work involved, especially if you have to ship all those products from your house. If you are organized, can research or can use the software to do that research for you, and can negotiate with suppliers than you can really make money with eBay.

FOUR. Drop Ship It.

The thought of storing boxes and boxes of products at your house may have you running away from eBay. Thank goodness there is something called Drop Shipping. A drop shipper is a wholesaler who will sell you their products at near wholesale prices and ship them directly to your customer. World Wide Brands maintains a directory of wholesaler and drop shipping companies giving you access to over 2 million products to sell on eBay. The good news is that once you have access to your own products, you can now use the first three methods to market them. Do you see the power now? Maybe you used the first two methods to market someone else's product. Now you can get a better profit margin by drop shipping your own products using these same methods.

FIVE. Write yourself rich.

The first 4 methods involved selling someone else's products for a commission or profit margin. If you want to make the most money, you have to produce and sell your own products. An exceptional item to sell online is information. In particular, ebooks, software, audio and video products have incredible profit margins. But, you think, you have no writing skills. What are you to do? Easy, hire people to do the work for you. This is an amazing way to leverage the skills of someone else. Pretend you have an idea for a new software program. There is a site online called Rent a Coder where you can hire people to work for you. Depending on your product idea, you can get the software coded for $100, $200, maybe even $300. Then the product is yours to resell. You can keep 100% of the profits. You can do the same thing writing a book. Steve Manning offers a free course that will teach you how to write a book in as little as 14 days. I know that sounds to good to be true but it can be done. Most of Steve's students take longer than that on the first book but many admit that they can do it faster by preparing better at the beginning.

There you have it. The 5 best ways of making money online. It is now up to you to master one or more of these ideas. If you need more help getting started, you can download my 25 page ebook named "The Best Money Making Ideas" for no charge. Inside, I elaborate on each of the 5 methods identified above.

5 Hot Internet Businesses For 2005

by: Nowshade Kabir

If you are planning to start a new business in 2005, you should seriously consider one of the many Internet based businesses available today. The online businesses have numerous inherent advantages in comparison to their brick and mortar counterparts.

Investment is relatively small

The basic elements to start an online business are the followings: a good product or service, an online presence, and a good marketing plan. All these things can be done on a shoe-string budget. You won’t require more than US$ 2000 to start any of the business described below. In most of the cases, the investment can be even lower. Quick to launch

Once you know, what products or services you are going to sell, you can, basically, start your business within three to four weeks. Some of the online businesses don’t even take more than two to three days to start.

Large audience

Internet is big and it’s getting bigger! Whatever business you prefer to start, Internet allows you to tap instantly into a huge number of potential customers, which is, virtually, impossible to do with a brick and mortar enterprise.

Huge growth potential

With the Internet, sky is the limit! If you have a good product, service or idea, you can create a dot com behemoth over night! Smart guys are doing this! Internet success examples are abound.

Work from home

The best thing about online business is you can take care of it even while you are on vacation. No office is necessary; you work from home, if that is what you prefer.

Less paper work

Since starting for your quotation and purchase orders to the invoices and shipment tracking, everything is done online; you hardly have to do any paper work. Check out an example of how easy it is to manage your business processes online at http://www.rusbiz.com/deal_manage.html

Flexible time schedule

No longer have you had to work nine to five! You set your own schedules. Although, with any new business, initially, you have to work very hard, however, the time flexibility allows you to do other important things whenever it’s necessary.

There is no limit to Internet business ideas. Savvy entrepreneurs are constantly coming up with mind-boggling online projects and striking rich in no time.

Here I have chosen several of the online businesses with great upward potential with proven success history.

Selling information

If you are asked, what do you do on the Internet most of the time? The answer, most probably, will be searching or retrieving information. You are not alone! A survey conducted by Neilsen Media Research shows that Books and Information Category tops the highest selling product and service on the Internet with a significant margin in comparison to other categories. This makes information a natural product for sale on the Internet. Information sells online in the formats of e-books, articles, reports, data, whitepapers etc. If you have expertise in any specific field, you may consider selling your ideas in one of the mentioned format. Check out Clickbank’s marketplace to get a good idea what people are selling. You will be truly amazed by the scope of ideas!

Resources

Travel agency

According to Jupitar Research the U.S. online travel market has grown at a fast pace over the last year, totaling $54 billion in 2004, or 23% of travel purchased. The online market is projected to grow to $91 billion in 2009, or 33% of travel purchased.

Apart from being a soaring market, travel agency is also highly rewarding and satisfactory business. The interesting thing about this business is your own network of acquaintances is also your potential customers.

The success of this business will depend on your target market and product that you are going to sell. Choose a very niche product and focus on a specific market segment. For example: Red Sea Rivera of Egypt is increasingly becoming a primer destination for many sun worshippers. Try working with several of the hotels from this area. Create package deals and offer to European customers.

Resources

eBay store

eBay has grown into the largest online marketplace in the world. Entrepreneurs are taking advantage of this. Opening a store on the eBay is fairly easy. However, the competition is stiff! There are nearly half a million stores are selling almost anything you can think off. In order to be successful you have to choose your products very carefully. The best selling items on the auction marketplace are collectibles, books, computer software and hardware, clothing, home and garden supplies, business supplies, wholesale lots, DVDs, special events tickets and even cars and real estates. If you don’t have your own products or you don’t want to physically handle a product, you can consider selling drop-ship items.

The main reason why you should mull over selling your products through eBay is the sheer number of visitors eBay gets. By no means, an average website can bring you so many customers.

If you find difficulties doing the auction sales yourself, you can also concentrate on seeking out products and selling them through eBay drop off stores. You can also come up with your own drop off store.

Resources

Web service firm

Services required by the Internet users and online businesses are increasing enormously. The Internet service industry is evolving so fast that for their various requirements, many companies, today, prefer outsourcing as oppose to doing things by hiring employees.

Large and small companies started to realize that it’s more cost-effective and time-saving to outsource sophisticated business related services, which are not their core business. This has created a flourishing industry, part of which did not even exist several years ago.

To be successful in this market you have to know what’s the odds are. A rush to provide complex solutions of vast range that fail to provide benefits at reasonable costs for businesses will sure take you out of business very fast.

The services that you can provide may include:

  • Website design

  • Website promotion

  • Online security consulting

Resources

Export Import Business

Thanks to the Internet, getting into import export business has never been easier. As the nations are accumulating wealth, their demand for foreign made products is also swelling. You can be a part of this action too! Whether you are planning to import or export, Internet resources can be of great help too you. The trade leads site, B2B exchanges and various marketplaces have made sourcing and selling products and services globally simple, effective and inexpensive. You can also create your web store with many of the B2B exchanges and run your business processes solely online.

Taming the Closet Monster

by: Cheryl Johnson
Reducing the clothing budget was a serious challenge for me. Two pre-teen girls and a teenage girl certainly didn’t make life any easier. My son wasn’t much of a challenge. Thank goodness, he’s not “fashion conscious”.

The girls on the other hand were greatly disappointed in the new methods of clothing acquisition. Freebies, thrift stores, yard sales, consignment shops, and clearance items weren't exactly their style.

I found that changing the way I approached them on the subject made things a little easier. For instance we don’t buy “used” clothing. We buy “previously owned, unwanted, or gently worn” clothing.

I strongly believe that knowledge is power. And, if you want to save money on anything, you must do your research!
Informed consumer = More Savings, that's my motto. It took some shopping around for me to locate the best clothing value for my money. I did eventually find the one place where I consistently find excellent values with a great variety of choices.

I find most of my clothing “treasures” at a thrift store about 15 miles from my home. It’s well worth the drive considering the great values I come away with! My cost per item averages about $3. I rarely spend more than $5 and once in a great while I’ll splurge on a $6.95 item (usually new with tags still intact and a super value compared to the original price)

The thrift store where I shop is owned and operated by the National Children’s Center , a local organization that provides educational services, early intervention preschool, and child care to infants and young children with and without developmental delays.

You will find that many of your local thrift stores are non-profit and support worthy charities.

I get a terrific value on name brand clothes popular with my girls peers, (Old Navy, Zana di, Paris Blues, Angel, Lei, Guess, Levi, Bubblegum, Mudd, limited Too, Adidas). Well there’s not much I haven’t been lucky enough to find at this store.

As a bonus my purchase also supports a worthy cause. And let’s not forget that recycling these “unwanted” clothes is environmentally friendly. Everybody wins with these kinds of purchases. These are important benefits that ease the embarrassment children sometimes experience when they shop at thrift stores.

If your children are informed of all these benefits, they have the power to explain why they shop at thrift stores, if it ever comes up, and it doesn‘t have be for financial reasons.

The wonderful part is, it will probably never come up in a conversation with their peers. My children have never had to explain themselves. Most items are of good quality and only gently used.

You would never know we are enjoying a frugal lifestyle with a wardrobe like this!

In fact, with their closest friends the girls freely brag about the terrific deals we get on clothing. Some of their friends are even envious because of the wide selection of popular brand name jeans the girls are fortunate to own.

They have come to the realization that five pairs of name brand jeans at the thrift store is a whole lot better than one at the department store price.

I have found many brand new items with tags still intact. No way for friends to know where these great clothes came from. They probably assume they shop at some expensive department store or specialty shop.

We actually have fun shopping at the thrift store now. I have even caught a hint of excitement in them from time to time. Maybe my excitement for saving money is rubbing off.

Not! I think it’s just the fabulous clothes we find! I know the saving thing will kick in later. That’s what counts, teaching them how to be financially independent in life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Besides visiting your local thrift stores you should check out these other great resources for low cost clothing.
Clothing needs change so often for children. When you consider they grow so rapidly at certain stages in life, it just makes good sense to reduce cost on clothing.
Spending $30-$50 on one pair of jeans is just wasteful. They will only get a few months of wear before they grow out of them or decide they don’t like them anymore!
Yard sales are great resource for anything you might need. It may be a little more time consuming to go this route, but the rewards can be great.
If you plan your yard sale trips correctly you can save a lot of time. As you become an experienced yard sale consumer, you will learn where yard sales are frequent in your area.
Combine this information with advertised yard sales in the local paper and on roadside signs and organize your trip to minimize your travel time.
You will sometimes find bags of clothes for a great "take all" price. Even if everything isn’t usable you will usually get enough useful clothing to make the purchase a good value.
Make sure the clothes are in the right size range or are something they will grow into within a reasonable amount of time. If you have the time and purchasing items individually is an option, go through the bag. Purchase only what you know will be useful.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Consignment shops are rapidly becoming popular. Not only can you find some bargain purchases here they may be a valuable resource for you to turn your unwanted items into money. You let them do all the storing, selling, and paperwork, all you have to do is collect your money!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a friend who sells all of her unwanted “designer” clothing on the E-Bay auction site. I have not ventured to purchase clothing on ebay myself as of yet, but have purchased many other items such as books, movies, and gifts.
Ebay is a great resource for new and pre-owned items, including clothing. Especially if you are geographically limited as far as shopping goes.
Of course there are other auction sites where you might find clothing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In conclusion your best defense against overspending is information.

In the end the best value for you is what works best for you.
And, what's available to you in your area. Investigate all your options and determine where the best value is based on your own needs. Yes, I'm going to say it again! Sorry.

Informed Consumer = More Savings

3 EASY WAYS TO LOWER YOUR COSTS

by: Larry Dotson
1) OLD SCHOOL METHODS

If you have a business you should be bartering goods
and services with other businesses. You should try to
trade for something before you buy it. Barter deals
usually require little or no money.

Another option would be to network your business
with other businesses. You could trade leads or lists.
This will cut down on your marketing and advertising
costs.

2) FREE AND LOW COST

You should try visiting the thousands of freebie sites
on the internet before buying your business supplies.
You can find free software, graphics, backgrounds,
online business services, etc.

Have you ever purchased business equipment you
only needed for a small period of time? You could
have just borrowed the equipment from someone
else or rented the equipment from a "rent-all" store.

3) SMART AND THRIFTY

Make a list of business supplies or equipment you'll
need in the future. Save money buying your business
supplies in bulk quantities. Find lower prices on
business supplies and equipment at online and offline
auctions. If your business equipment and supplies
don't need to be new, buy them used.

You should always try negotiate a lower price for
any business equipment or supplies. It doesn't hurt
to try. Pretend you are talking to a salesman at a car
lot. Also keep on the look out for new lower priced
supplies.

QUICK READ SUMMARY

1) Barter your goods or services and network your
business with other ones.

2) Look for free business stuff online and if all fails,
borrow or rent.

3) Find lower prices at online auctions, wholesale
sources and don't forget to negotiate.

Some naysayers way back in the 1990s predicted that online shopping wouldn’t last. Sure, and they said television was a passing fad, too! As we all know, just the opposite has occurred. There’s a television in every household, and more than likely, the homeowner bought their television online—along with his books, music CDs, clothes, and maybe even his home.

Internet shopping is bigger than ever. You can find anything and everything for sale online. Many times, you can find it cheaper online than anywhere else. Internet shopping offers so much more than a discounted price tag, though.

Imagine a shopping mall where there are no lines, where there are no jammed parking garages, and no pushy sales clerks. This is no land of make believe. It is the Internet, where you can discover unprecedented selection, convenience, and opportunities. Online shopping gives you the luxury of browsing hundreds of stores from your living room, while saving on time and frustration. It provides you the chance to compare prices to your heart’s delight on a near limitless selection of brands and models.

For even more benefits, try your hand at classifieds and auction Web sites. These sites are like yard sales and flea markets rolled into one. Unlike retail shopping sites, they offer:

Access to super secondary markets. Take your pick of secondhand or brand-new wholesale goods at steeply discounted prices. The vendors at classifieds sites can get away with it because they aren’t paying high rent for a storefront or a warehouse. And in many cases, you’re not paying taxes.

Tools to locate unique and rare collectibles. Imagine a classifieds site to be like a sunken pirate boat, laden with cultural artifacts, hard-to-find heirlooms, and priceless antiques. The Internet is your deep-sea vessel, sonar, and oxygen tank all in one.

Reach beyond your neighborhood. Search through the inventory of a vendor from your home town, or if you don’t find what you’re looking for there, try that fellow in California, Texas or Canada for that matter.

Close relationships with vendors. You deal with real people—not big, impersonal corporations—when you buy on classifieds sites. They can provide more details about the product, which you can then use to bargain for a reasonable price.

Despite this bounty of benefits, you might still be hesitant to dive into Internet shopping. Don’t be embarrassed. You have good reason to take your time and weigh your choices. According to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Internet fraud tops the list of the thousands of fraud cases that happen every year. In some ways, WWW could stand for the Wild West Web, in that anything goes. Vendors can be villains in disguise, and there aren’t any online Wyatt Earps to protect you from these bad guys. You’re on your own.

But give yourself some credit. You have the common sense it takes to survive the WWW. It is the same commonsense that helps you make the most of your money on your standard shopping trips. Become familiar and comfortable with an online vendor before jumping into a purchase. Ask questions and do a bit of research.

After doing your research, you’ll feel more confident in searching for your online booty. To refine your findings and whittle your list to only the exceptional sites, look for these additional qualities:

  • A focus on local shopping, so you can feel more confident buying from neighbors.

  • Free education and advice on safe purchasing.

  • No-cost and easy browsing through available merchandise.

  • Search tools that let you prioritize items by category, location, and distance.

  • A straightforward pricing system that avoids the haggling and risk of auction bidding.

  • Quick price comparisons among different vendors.

Unbelievably, a few trustworthy, practical, and exciting Web sites exist that have all of these features. To find these websites, simply browse through Yahoo’s directory under the classifieds category. The best of the online classified sites offer these services free to buyers such as you. Some of these sites can link you at no charge to your neighbor selling the antique lamp that you’ve been hunting for or that retiree looking to unload an incredible piece of real estate—or the cowboy looking to sell his big-screen television.

The Best Choices in Buying your Dream Motorcycle

by: Kay Zetkin
For motorcycle enthusiasts, it could really be heaven’s gift if motorcycles come from packages delivered by the storks… This is the kind of fantasy for those wishing hard for a baby. And indeed, once you have your dream motorcycle, we doubt if anything would prevent you from considering it as your baby. But the point of this is that, you have to go over the tough decision of buying your dream motorcycle.

So how do you go about this business and get the greatest deal and bargain of your lifetime? Well, here are several insights of the choice you can consider in the process of buying your motorcycle…
•Considering buying a used motorcycle – if you are a new rider, it is quite preferable for you to start out with a used motorcycle. This used motorcycle will do nicely up until you get trained and have plenty of practice to spread over. This could take at least a year. Since new riders are likely to take a few spills early in their motorcycle riding, a new bike in which to practice on might run you into thousands of dollars in repairs. This incident will definitely not be something that will instill confidence in a rider that’s just starting out honing their skills.
Where can you get to buy your used motorcycle? Four options can be had:
1.From an auction – you can keep yourself posted for this event and inspect the motorcycles to be auctioned before the bidding starts
2.From a Classified Ad – Not only in local newspapers, you can also check out motorcycle want ads in the internet. You can also check out the classifieds on the various motorcycle forums. Have a local and trusted mechanic check out the motorcycle for sale before deciding to buy it.
3.From a friend - or acquaintance – Tell your buddies, family friends or motorcycle club co-members that you’re on the lookout for a motorcycle that’s for sale. They may know of someone else who has a bike for sale. What’s more your motorcycle club members particularly can be relied upon in choosing the one in good condition.
4.From a dealer of used motorcycles – Consider visiting your local dealer. Trade-ins that are in good condition might be up for sale in a price that would fit your budget. You can also mention your interest to buy to several motorcycle sales people that you know. They might just find you the one you’re dreaming of.
•At last! You earned the right to acquire a brand new motorcycle! Where can be the best deals? Here’s several options:
1.From the Internet – you can use the Internet to do research on the new motorcycle you specifically want to have. There are manufacturers' Web sites and dealer Web sites where you can read road test reviews, participate in forum discussions about motorcycles you're interested in. you can also chat in chat rooms, check out the price ranges and dealers who will sell a motorcycle to you on the Web. Be extra careful, in dealing through the Web. You should meet your motorcycle dealer in a face-to-face decision before deciding to buy altogether.
2.From a dealer - If you’re pretty dead set in buying certain models that are in high demand, dealers can be unwilling to budge on its price. Some are even inclined to charge over the MSRP for the bike. Harley-Davidson dealers can either sell away over MSRP with short or no waiting period or sell close to MSRP with a long waiting period or sell close to MSRP with a long waiting period. If you decide to buy from a dealer, know what you want first. Make sure it fits your needs and look around and compare before having that talk with a dealer.

•Finally, you are closing the deal on the dream bike you have chosen to buy! What do you do, now?
1.You’ll find that although you’re much too eager to get over and done with the dealing as soon as possible it’s still a good measure to play hardball with the salesperson. Emphasize that once you have bought your motorcycle you have started a relationship. It’s worthwhile to hint of giving them your other business such as apparel, repairs, and accessories. You’ll get on admirably over the bargains.
2.Always do your homework, not only before buying your motorcycle but during the actual buying process. Remember that you are up against a pro in negotiations and lack of preparation will cost you big. Get them to throw in some extras after hinting that this is but the start of your business relationship. Take advantage of the dealer’s desire for future business opportunities and sales with you.
Buying a motorcycle is composed of many different ways with lots of choices at hand. You can always choose what would best work for you Use what works for you. Try to work your way to the best deal or bargain you will fondly remember every time you look at your motorcycle and will give you great pride once you’re riding in it! Good luck! -30-

Helpful Tips on how to buy Motorcycles

by: Karen Nodalo

Buying motorcycles isn’t just about buying because you need to know some helpful tips ant hints to get the best deals. It would even be very helpful if you consult an expert so you will never have to go wrong or think that your money has been put to waste.

In purchasing a used motorcycle, every part of it needs to be checked for durability. All goes well for well-maintained parts. Whether you are and expert or novice, you can easily identify it even by just looking at it. If the parts look grumpy and all worn-out, that won’t pretty serve you much for long. So why invest in buying a cheap one when it entitles you to overspend when it crashes.

In buying motorcycles, it would be better if you know the owner you are buying from. At least you will have an idea on how the motorcycle has been treated if the owner took extra efforts in maintaining the motorcycle’s performance. You can also estimate as to whether the motorcycle you are purchasing will still have a longer life or spend your time keeping it up. Some experts say that purchasing second-hand or used motorcycles are better than new ones because the motorcycle has performed several times. Used motorcycles don’t need warming ups and series of road tests.

There are other options in buying motorcycles. You can buy a motorcycle from an auction in companies and the Internet usually. When motorcycles are being sold, they deal it through auctions with great deals too. But purchasing with this type is first-come first-serve basis.

If you really are in desperate need to purchase a motorcycle very soon, you can easily find one in the newspapers in the ads page. Internet ads and motorcycle sites offer their selling online. They offer product information, listings, pricing and specification.

For assurance and warranties, you can buy your motorcycle from an authorized dealer. You can have great deals and discounts depending upon your contract. They also offer selling their products for easy installment for a given period of time. That sure is painless if you don’t have enough money and have other priorities.

The simplest and most common way to purchase a motorcycle is through your friends. You will usually hear from them talking about selling motorcycles. If you purchase from a friend, prices can get lower and you can talk about the motorcycle’s condition and performance comfortably. You can also ask for advices because they pretty know well and they are used to operating the motorcycles themselves.

No matter how you want to purchase a motorcycle, don’t always be in a hurry to buy one unless you are sure especially if you are a beginner. Of course you won’t want your money to be put waste.

5 Ways To Find Affordable, Quality Parts For Your Vehicle

by: Matthew C. Keegan
The latest offerings from American automakers has the industry buzzing. Coupled with steep discounts, cars are rolling out of showrooms at a record clip. Not everyone is buying a new car these days, instead a significant number of car lovers are maintaining and keeping their cars for five or ten years, even longer. However, finding affordable, quality parts for any model car can be difficult particularly as the car ages. Let’s look at five ways you can find parts for your soon to be classic.

1. The Dealers. Some dealer inventories are extensive and include parts for classic models including the Dodge Charger, Coronet, and Omni; Ford Mustang, Thunderbird, and LTD; and Chevrolet Camaro, Caprice, and Vega. Their prices, however, can be steep as you are paying the dealer rate and receiving genuine manufacturer parts.

2. The Junk Yard. The cheapest parts out there can be pulled off a wreck that has been placed in a salvage yard. Of course finding the particular make/model part and hoping that it isn't damaged or worn out is another thing.

3. Parts Stores. Your local parts store may stock what you need. If not, the better ones can place an order and have it shipped in.

4. Ebay. What isn't sold online through eBay and other auction sites? Precious little! There is one important caveat with purchasing through an auction site: fraud is rampant. Only purchase through these types of businesses if you know the buyer and you can get a guarantee.

5. Shop Online. Brick and mortar stores are receiving stiff competition from online purveyors. Some are good, some aren't. Things to look for in an online merchant: check to make sure that they are a recognized name in the industry, stock quality parts, offer toll free phone support, ship from a U.S. address, and their shipping and handling fees are clearly stated. Prices at these types of stores are usually very competitive; they are also the same stores that many of your local parts stores order from. If you order from them directly, you will cut out the middle man and realize significant savings.

So, if your 1996 Chevrolet Impala is your pride and joy you can keep it going for many more years by acquiring affordable, quality car parts from a reputable seller. Shop informed!

Drop Ship your way to eBay profits

by: Mike Ralph
One of the most difficult things to do when looking to start an online business is to find that elusive supplier that will supply you, put simply you need a source of real products to sell. Drop shipping is a perfect way to achieve this and lets you develop the perfect online business..

The perfect online business is one in which you are selling a product whereby you DO NOT HAVE ANY STOCK and you DO NOT PHYSICALLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE PRODUCT and all you do is COLLECT THE MONEY AND PASS THE CUSTOMERS DETAILS ON.

Sounds to good to be true! - well it definately is TRUE.

THIS IS DROP SHIPPING AND ANYONE CAN DO IT!

Read the following example :

You decide that you want to sell Mobile Phones, you then realise that to do this the traditional way you would have to hold a large amount of stock so that you have the range and product available for your customers. Without a massive amount of working capital you have no chance, also by the time you get your business noticed the lines you are carrying are out of date and not worth what you paid for them.

However, now consider this:

You sign up to a Mobile Phone drop shipper, they give you a list of products that they can supply. You now go away and advertise this list on your online store. You take an order from your website for a Motorola phone, you have this advertised at $200.. You then collect the customers details via your website, all good shopping cart software provide this feature, and then contact your drop shipper and buy the same phone for $150 and pass them your customers details. That is the end of the sales process for you, what happens next is :

The drop shipper SENDS THE PRODUCT TO YOUR CUSTOMER and usually it goes under plain packaging or some drop shippers can also put YOUR COMPANY DETAILS on the packaging when they send it to your customer.

Thats $50 PROFIT for VERY LITTLE WORK!

Just 10 orders a week will give you $500 profit.

Drop shipping is fast becoming the easiest way of starting your own online business because it offers a very simple formula for success :

The drop shipper sets the price that you pay, you then set the price that your customers pay and the difference between the two is your profit!

SIMPLE ISNT IT.

Because it is that simple a lot of people are jumping on the drop shipping band wagon and it is not unusual to see lots of different websites using the same pictures and sales copy to sell the same product, usually because they just simply publish the promotional materials that the drop shippers provide for them.

It is important at this stage to remember that the internet was based upon the ability to share information and content. It is this simple word, CONTENT, that will help you to distinguish yourself from the rest and will also ensure that your search engine rankings are developed to increase the traffic (ie. customers) to your website.

This is simply using information and content to ADD VALUE to your website, customers want to be able to learn about the product before they purchase and having content specific to your area will allow this distinction in the mind of the customer. In order to make a success of your online business you have to make your customers want to come back. Think of your favourite websites, why do you keep revisiting them? Simple, because they provide you with something that is of VALUE to you.

Drop shipping allows you to develop your business in this manner because instead of worrying about stock levels and shipping you get to focus on listening to the market and discovering the products your visitors want - and then being able to rapidly add them to your site.

Its CONTENT SPECIFIC TO A WANT.

Drop Shipping is EASY - Have I said that?

BUT, don't get carried away. When you see the products that the drop shippers offer you simply think I can sell that, that, that and that and before long your list of things that you want to sell is massive and this is counter productive. In order to make drop shipping successful for you I would suggest to

FOCUS ON ONE PRODUCT AT A TIME

Build this up, when this is established then it gives you the ability to go into other areas a lot easier and your current customer base will give you a good source of potential new customers straight away.

A great way is to focus onto a product that you like, know a lot about or use personally in a hobby etc. This gives you the opportunity to develop your website as an authority on the subject and as such ADD VALUE.

Like any business venture there are some points that should be raised before you build your online empire the easy drop shipping way :

Don't just use the first drop shipper you come across as they may not give you the best deal on this particular product. Like all things shop around a number of drop shippers to find the one most suitable to your needs.

Some drop shippers operate a handling fee over and above shipping costs, this is usually quite a resonable fee and needs to be factored into your pricing structure.

Some drop shippers try to charge you a monthly 'members' fee as another means to make money from you, in my opinion these should be avoided as the only time you should have to pay a dropshipper is in connection with a specific order. You will find that the majority that charge a members fee are the ones that offer no true value to your business anyway.

As with any developing business the question of credibility is key, unfortunately there are a number of con artists out there that are aiming to take your money for nothing in return. A key phrase to remember is :

IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE - IT IS!

Research is key, for example :

How long have the drop shippers been in business?

Do they respond to your information requests quickly and professionally?

Do they offer buying accounts?

What payments do they accept? (if just Western Union run a mile)

This list is endless, that is why I only recommend two sources of drop shippers information. Both these lists are maintained by professionals that constantly update thier lists and only recommend the best, most reliable and trustworthy dropshippers. These sources can be found from the link in my signature box at the bottom of the article.

As you can imagine the idea of drop shipping fits in with online auctions, in particular eBay, perfectly as eBay will provide you with the traffic and all you have to do is make that ad stand out from the rest (my FREE resources on my site will help you) and all the rest of the work is done for you.

You just concentrate on developing your business and using ebays traffic to make money and you cannot lose.

Does Your E-Newsletter or E-Zine Pass the "So What" Test

by: Robert Moment
A great number of e-newsletter and e-zine programs fail every day, no matter how much time and money is spent on attempting to make them work. Perhaps they don’t reach their target audience, or they don’t make their sales goals. For some reason or another they simply didn’t work. The majority of times however, it comes down to the fact that they simply did not pass the “so what” test. Instead of trying to solve the reader’s problems, the failed newsletters attempted to sell products or services.

It is a natural progression that when your readers trust you, they’ll buy from you, it’s just that simple. However, one cannot develop a trusting relationship with a customer by shouting “buy, buy, buy” at them. A newsletter must pay attention to what the customer wants and needs, and it must speak to those issues. The reader will make the conclusion to buy on their own, and since they have built up a trust for you through your informative newsletter, they’ll choose you first.

E-newsletter marketing is a less intrusive form of communication than traditional advertising. It is much more appealing to readers and, in turn, is a great deal more effective, as it delivers value to your customers on a regular basis. Additionally, newsletters make it easy for you to track which articles are most read, and therefore what information is most interesting and important to your customers.

The thing is, advertising doesn’t have to look like advertising. It can be an article chock full of interesting information that revolves around your product or service, without specifically mentioning your product or service. People don’t want to read ads - but they do want to find out how to make their lives easier or better in some way. This is illustrated through the 1%-3% of readers who open a direct mail piece and request further information, in comparison to the over 50% of recipients who click on newsletter articles to seek more information.

People want to learn how to solve their daily problems, to stay informed of industry trends, to learn critical information, and save time. So how do you do this and still get your message across? Write quality articles about the value and benefits of the types of products and services that you offer. Make them look just like the type of article you’d see in a quality newspaper. People don’t care as much about the fact that Andyhairdryers.com has come out with a new hair dryer, as they care that this new dryer can cut their morning prep time in half. See the difference? Stating the benefit of the new hair dryer answered the “so what?” question concerning the new product. This made the product relevant in the reader’s life and therefore prompted the reader to continue learning, and perhaps even buying the new product.

Whenever you write a newsletter, “So What?” should always be at the forefront of your mind. Every statement you make has to pass the “so what” test, or your newsletter simply won’t be maximizing its potential with your readers.

To look at another example: certainly you could tell your reader that eBay sells many different products and services, but this would suggest very little unless you told the reader that this means that people with exactly their kind of business now have access to an entire new realm of opportunity by selling goods and services to the whole world through online auctions, that are easy to access. Simply telling the reader that a business has done something is much less interesting than knowing how to take advantage of that fact in order to increase business and profits. If you’ve managed to make the reader think about how he/she can improve his/her life through what is written, your newsletter has passed the “so what?” test and it is getting the message across. Now, if you happen to be selling a service that has to do with helping business owners with online auctions, the newsletter has worked just like advertising, while creating a trusting relationship with your reader and inspiring your reader to take action. Since the company they trust for online auction advice is yours, as you’ve been providing them with all of their information, they will naturally be inclined to ask you for help first!

The “so what?” test is the most simple and effective method to ascertain whether or not your e-newsletter or e-zine is doing all that it can with your potential customers. Why not take advantage of every second of your time with your customer’s attention and ask yourself this simple question to make your newsletter work for you?

City Wide Garage Sales: Hidden Riches!

by: Randy Wilson
City Wide Garage Sales:

Most of us remember going to at least one garage sale in our lives. It may have been called a yard sale, garage sale or flea market. The name didn’t matter it was all the same. Other people selling what they thought was trash to people who thought the items were treasures.

Those people who find treasures are the people who feel euphoria at the sight of garage sales. These people need to look at these garage sales in a new light. You can take this overwhelming urge and profit from it in several ways. You just have to find the way that suits you best.

Before going too far in this endeavor, check with your local government regarding laws and regulations of garage sales. Some places state that if you have more than a certain number of garage sales, like more than five, you have to claim all money made as income. Other places have no stipulations and regulations.

Once you have this knowledge, it is time to start. You may want to ask some of your friends who also enjoy going to city wide garage sales to join your adventure, or you may just want to keep it solo. The choice is completely yours.

Start by cleaning out your own home. As you go though it, price each piece. Place all the items together in one area. By pricing the items now, you will save some time later for your city wide garage sale.

Call your local newspaper and place an ad to run on Thursday and Friday. Make sure you state in the ad the date, times, location, and any specialty items you have. Always set the time for 30 minutes later than you actually want it. This way the people will start arriving when you want and not 20 to 30 minutes before.

The day before the city wide garage sale, put up signs around the main roads in your community. Make sure the poster board is a light color and that you use a large tip black marker for your lettering. Include the times, date and address of the garage sale. You may also want to preset your items on tables and hanger in the garage for a quick start in the morning.

During the sale, hand out flyers announcing that you will be having other garage sales at intervals. Mention that new items will be for sale at each of the city wide garage sales. Hopefully, your customer will tell other people about your upcoming garage sales too. You can take the remaining flyers and put them in local stores and community bulletin boards, just remember to always ask first.

When the city wide garage sale is over pack up what is left and place it in a designated area. Take down your signs and count your money. Take the money that you initially put in for change, and then take change out for the next sale. Use the remainder to purchase more items at city wide garage sales in the weeks between your garage sales. Mark the new items as soon as you get them home, and place them with the rest of the items. Repeat this cycle as often as you like.

Another option is to rent space at a local flea market. Many people do not like to do this because of the need to haul the items back and forth. However, if you live in an apartment or in an out-of-the-way area, this may be the perfect solution.

You can also have online garage sales. In this instance, you sell the items as you wish, and can continue year round. There is no getting up early or setting anything up and taking it down. It is almost completely virtual.

Many garage sales online have blossomed into online auction sites, such as Amazon.com and eBay. There are printed books, e-books, periodicals, and classes to teach you how to make money on these sites. These virtual online garage sales can be done at anytime of day or night and anytime of year. Online garage sales may be the wave of the future.

Whichever you decide to do, or if you decide on a combination of the two types of garage sales, you will always have items to sell. City wide garage sales are constantly going on in some area, but auctions, estate auctions, and thrift stores are also good hunting grounds for items to sell on your garages sale online or in your front yard.

It is a little work to get it started but the more you do the more you will understand the mechanics of these sales, what sells and what doesn’t, and how much to ask. In no time, you will be making money in your front yard and online garage sales.

Chris Carpenter's Google Cash - An Ebook Review

by: David B. Ledoux

It is rare to find a brand new blueprint for making cash on the internet. The continuous churning of rehashed and ripped off regurgitated pablum has plagued the internet guru market for the last few years. But ever so often with some persistent digging you find a gem. Google Cash is that shining diamond on the coal-heap of get-rich-on-the-internet promotion.

With the pending IPO of Google and all the hype surrounding it, it's easy to overlook the hidden fundamentals that make Google such a marketing miracle. The Google Adwords program allows savvy marketers to reach highly desirable eyeballs at a predictable cost. Google Cash is a startlingly frank analysis of this fast-paced direct response medium.

You sell hand-made knitted scarves. You can place your ad directly in the path of people searching for one. With some elbow grease and a sharp pencil you can figure out to the penny what you can afford to pay for that ad. And you can target the world or Little Rock Arkansas with that ad thanks to the awesome interface and techno-wizardry of Google Adwords. What used to take 3 months in the "old days" of marketing back in the nineties takes 3 hours today!

Chris Carpenter lays out a step-by-step blueprint for generating extra income on the web using Google Adwords. He pulls back the curtain and reveals his own successful campaigns and even some of his stumbles in this marketing arena. He demystifies the mathematics and explains the entire process at a Grade 10 comprehension level.

If I had a teenage son or daughter, I would get them to stop working at McDonalds and get them investing their free time in building an online auction business. I used to hate cleaning the garage. Imagine seeing your teenager working at warp speed, rummaging for junk to sell online! It's possible thanks to Google Cash.

Can anything and everything be sold online through Google Adwords? Frankly, the astounding answer is yes! If a human wants it, you can put it in front of them. The Google Adwords interface is the single most powerful direct-response medium currently on the planet. With 300 million daily searches, with a little bit of imagination and creativity you can find a target niche for your product.

Think of Google Cash as a starting point rather than a be-all-end-all solution. For the price, it delivers great value. But you have to take action with this guide. Even though it lays out the step-by-step path to follow, you'll still have to invest the hours building your keyword campaigns and creating your Google projects. Even though there is real brain work involved, the potential rewards of developing your own online cash machine with Google outweighs the short term sweat equity. I think you'll enjoy Google Cash.

eBay buys Shopping.com - Boon or Bust to Online Merchants?

by: Scott Smigler

My first reaction: This could be big

The players:

eBay

Largest online auction site where buyers bid to buy products. Arguably the most well-known e-commerce site with over 100 million registered users. Billions in sales are transacted here worldwide.

Shopping.com

Shopping portal that helps shoppers find the least-expensive merchant to buy their desired product from. Shopping.com is one of the largest shopping portals on the Internet. They achieved success by implementing a model that allows online merchants to acquire targeted clicks from shoppers by paying a per-click fee.

eBay Sellers

Individuals, small businesses, and some larger businesses post products for auction on eBay, and also maintain “stores” within the eBay website where shoppers can make purchases without bidding. eBay sellers must maintain a presence on eBay to participate. This means that the shopper never leaves eBay to make a purchase, and the sellers must coordinate a system to process orders through eBay.

Online Merchants

Internet stores, large and small. Stores ranging from independent specialty stores like Surray Luggage, to huge mass-merchants like Amazon.com. Many online merchants do not do business on eBay because it requires them to maintain a separate store, which has both branding and logistical consequences.

What’s happening?

eBay is buying Shopping.com for $620 million. Shopping.com’s key assets include its product comparison technology, large network of product reviewers (formally EPinions.com), brand awareness, and of course, its advertisers.

Background

eBay was originally founded as an online auction where individuals offered used (and sometimes new) products to the highest bidder. Over time, EBay has introduced services to allow merchants to sell directly to buyers through eBay stores that bypass the bidding process. Since everything is done through eBay, merchants are required to have a presence on eBay that is separate from their online store. In other words, the merchant must have two stores: Their current store, and their eBay store.

Analysis

This could go one of two ways:

1) eBay could be buying Shopping.com to monetize its targeted traffic by sending eBay shoppers outside of EBay to the Shopping.com portal. In other words, they will funnel traffic from eBay to Shopping.com, which will then be funneled to the online merchants who currently advertise on Shopping.com.

- Upside to eBay: Increased advertising revenues.

- Upside to eBay Shoppers: Access to more products and increased price competition.

- Upside to Online Merchants: Access to the lucrative community of eBay shoppers.

- Downsides: eBay sellers will face increased competition.

2) eBay could be buying Shopping.com to simply enhance its value to both eBay shoppers and eBay sellers. Shoppers would benefit from the product reviews and price comparison technology that Shopping.com owns. Sellers would benefit from the enhanced shopping experience because demand for their products will further increase.

- Upside to eBay: Increased customer loyalty and listing fees.

- Upside to Shoppers: Better version of the service they’re already comfortable with.

- Upside to Online Merchants: None. Many online merchants have been reluctant to establish an eBay presence because they’ll have to maintain two separate stores.

- Downsides: Online merchants won’t have the streamlined access they’re looking for to reach the eBay community, and the value of advertising on Shopping.com would be diminished.

My Take

I can’t imagine that eBay would spend $620 million on Shopping.com only to disband its network of online merchants who pay a lot of money to be featured there. Accordingly, my prediction is that eBay will maintain a version of Shopping.com’s current advertising network where merchants acquire clicks from buyers (contrary to eBay’s model where buyers never click to leave the eBay website).

If I’m right, eBay’s acquisition of Shopping.com will be huge for advertisers. Advertisers will be able to advertise on Shopping.com like they always have. The only difference will be a massive influx of quality traffic from eBay.

I am concerned because eBay’s press release only talks about creating an enhanced shopping experience for current buyers, and mentions the new opportunity for current eBay sellers. The press release does not mention Shopping.com’s advertisers at all, which makes me question eBay’s true motives. In other words, I may very well be wrong.

Bottom line: Watch this closely. eBay’s acquisition could be a tremendous boon to online advertisers, opening up a fertile new market for online marketing. Or, eBay could be acquiring Shopping.com purely for its technology and product review network with the singular goal of enhancing eBay.com. If so, online merchants will be missing out on a big opportunity.

Online merchants should watch this very closely.

7 Tips I Wish I Had Known 6 Months Ago About Online Marketing

7 Tips I Wish I Had Known 6 Months Ago About Online Marketing

(c) by Laurie Meade

1---The importance of a schedule and staying focused. Keeping on
task. schedule promotions
Plan and make a task schedule for project ideas.
schedule purchases -- (don't buy on impulse, the offer will still
be there in a day or so!)
schedule time -- (remember to schedule time for family members as
well :o)
schedule breaks from the computer -- (not just physical breaks, take
your mind of your business and have some fun --, you'll be more
fresh and productive when you go back to work!)

2---The importance and value of keeping good records,
Financial
Promotional
Backing Up Files
Affiliate Information
Passwords
Contacts

3--- Don't try and run an online business with AOL. I personally
have nothing against AOL It is a great service for the computer
illiterate newbie. However, once you get the basics down, you can be
much more productive with a different ISP. AOL does not allow you to
filter email the way it needs to be filtered.

When I was doing my business through AOL, I sometimes would be
dealing with over 500 emails a day. No way to send them to different
folders as in Outlook Express, MailWasher or many other email
programs. Unless they have drastically changed things in Version 8,
it is one of the few that doesn't work with third party email
programs. This just leads to wasted time and frustration.

4--- Speaking of wasted time.

Get a DSL hook up.

The extra cost is worth it in the matter of time saved.
Instantaneous downloads.

Web pages that come in as fast as the click of a mouse.

It means more productive time spent on the computer. More
productivity means more money.

5--- Learn what a great tool Yahoo can be. I have read good comments
and bad, about Yahoo. All I know is from my own experience. When I
first started online, I exchanged a review for a copy of FrontPage
2002. While reviewing it, I put up a "practice site" on geocities.
You can visit it here:

http://geocities.com/laurieslegends

I read where you had to have a domain name for people to take you
seriously. I agree. However, I learned that a free site is very
beneficial to your business as well. Putting links on a free site
will bring traffic to your domain name. If you use Geocities.com, it
will help you get listed in the Yahoo Directory eventually. Two of
my pages at the above mentioned site, are listed in the Yahoo
Directory.
They are also the two that get the most traffic. By putting links on
these pages to my other domain names, I can take advantage of all
that free traffic.

You will also able to access this site from any computer, even when
yours is down.

You can start and manage groups easily. I love the convenience of
running AutoResponse Plus right at my website. However, having a
group to promote articles on Yahoo, makes more sense. Once someone
has signed up for one Yahoo Group, it is a simple click of a button
to add other groups.

This is where the power of numbers comes in. Don't try and reinvent
the wheel. Jump in and join the success by following those who came
before you.

6--- Take the time to learn how to use Ebay. Even if your plan
doesn't entail becoming a powerseller, by putting up a few auctions,
you can direct traffic to your site and increase sales. You can
learn everything you need and more from the ebooks offered at this
site:

http://www.makemoneyonline.us

I had wanted to learn Ebay but kept putting it off. To many other
things to do. Because of a planned move, and the necessity of
getting rid of valuable stuff, I started researching the ebooks I
had about how to go about putting up an auction.

I sold more in one month, July 2002, than I had from Feb. through
June, using Ebay. I also received my first affiliate commissions,
several of them, from both my geocities and domain name websites
that same month. It was definitely worth the time invested for my
business. It can be a great traffic building for your business.

Email me at ebayqtn@gentlyused4kids.com if you have questions on
Ebay auctions. I will help through emails any way I can.

7--- Don't be afraid to do a press release. I had read many articles
about how they could bring you big traffic. I also read how
difficult they were to get read. I worried about too much publicity,
invading my privacy.

I researched and studied how to do it, and took the plunge. It
worked. The very first time. I got my press released published at
PRWeb.com

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2002/12/prweb52227.php

8--- Write it down when you think about it. Too often, I have
written an article in my mind. Then it never seems to make it to
paper. Being a single mom of three, I am busy. I have found by
talking into a digital recorder or tape recorder, I can be more
productive. Use that waiting time. This article was generated in my
mind while waiting at a bus stop with my almost 2 year old. (He was
strapped safely in his stroller with a snack, of course :o)

This article promised 7 tips--- I give you 10. These are my bonus
tips.

9-- Always give more than you promise. Everyone loves freebies. Put
something for free on your site. It will generate more traffic. Then
incorporate that freebie to generate sales. Writing articles is a
great way to do this.

10-- Promote free articles. After you have written several on the
same topic, you can create a free ebook. Offer it as a tool for
webmasters to customize and give away for free. You can offer this
customization for free or charge a fee for it. Put affiliate links
in your ebook articles to promote backend sales.

If I had known all these things 6 months ago, my business would be
bringing in more sales everyday. Learn from my mistakes so you can
profit faster.

Earning A Profit on Ebay

How does a person make money selling on eBay?
Earning a Profit on eBay

When selling a product online, sometimes as a seller we forget to take into account all the additional fees that go along with selling.

As a seller we have all the added conveniences from accepting credit cards through Paypal and other services and the old-fashioned way of waiting for money orders and checks to arrive in the mail.

We have to take into account the fees and costs of those little extras that we have to assist us in our online selling.

Also, if you are using an online management program consider any costs that they may charge to use their services.

Consider that you are selling your grandma's vintage doilies, and you would like to get $15.00 for them, you list your item on eBay. Realizing that when you list them on eBay, your listing fee is $0.30. If you used any other services like buy it now that's another $.05. If you add your item to eBay's gallery to showcase a photo of the item it's another $.25. Just from listing the auction, you are down to $14.40 as your profit. Those fees are charged whether the item is sold or not.

You received one bid of $15.00 on your item. Your final value auction fee that eBay charges you is $0.79. Your profit is now $13.61.

If your bidder decides to pay you via Paypal, you are charged another fee. Realize that when you are selling something you have to take in account any additional fees to determine your profit.

When selling online the basic rule is buy low and sell high. Your in this to try and make some additional cash so if something doesn't sell the first time hang onto it and try and sell it again in the future.
